THE SWEET SCIENCE
BOXING.
WHAT IT IS
Boxing is four things: punching, defense, footwork, and counters. That simplicity is deceptive. There is more technical depth in a single round of quality boxing than in most sports' entire rulebooks. Learning to move correctly, defend without panicking, and find your shots while under pressure is a years-long process, and one of the most rewarding things you can do in a gym.
Amir Ghassemi and Adam Karse run the boxing program at Lions with a clear technical framework and genuine coaching standards. The focus is on fundamentals first. Stance, guard, jab mechanics, footwork angles. Everything else builds from there. Students who stay consistent come out of Lions boxing classes with hand skills that hold up under pressure.
Boxing at Lions is also the most accessible entry point for new members. No experience needed. The learning curve is real, but the first few months of consistent training produce noticeable results in movement, coordination, and confidence.

WHAT A CLASS LOOKS LIKE
Classes begin with movement and shadow boxing, warming up the mechanics before adding resistance. Technique work covers the day's focus, a specific combination, defensive concept, or footwork pattern, drilled on the mitts and bags. Intermediate and advanced classes close with controlled sparring. Beginners work at their own pace until they are ready to step up.
